DID YOU KNOW...? CREATIVE WAYS TO WRAP GIFTS
I know people who are so picky about how they wrap a gift they will match up the pattern and use invisible double-sided tape.

As a big recycling family, we always save our tissue paper, bags and ribbon and reuse them. Seriously, we have an assembly line when someone opens a gift to hand the tissue paper and bags to someone and the ribbons to someone else. Not only does this allow for some great savings on buying bags, ribbons and paper but it facilitates the clean-up after the gift giving is over.

I don't know many busy people who still use holiday wrapping paper when a gift bag does it all AND comes with its own tag (and in some cases, its own ribbon). I also like plastic gift sacks for organizing small children's gifts, baked gifts or to mail smaller items in a larger box. They even have HUGE gift bags for bikes, etc, as well as for your Christmas tree to recycle it to the curb without getting the needles all over your house.

But let's get out of the 'box' for some creative ideas you may not have thought of.
When mailing, if you are not using priority or express mail which need a specific box, the outside of the box can be decorated. Many times mail services will not let you use a box that has been recycled due to the previous UPC codes or markings that can be confusing. My favorite way is to save money on using paper to cover it by spray-painting. Do this outside and do a base color first, using a dark color like black. Then you can do swirls of color or use stencils or stickers. I can't tell you how many times I have been in line at the post office and had people ask where I got 'the cute box'.

Instead of stuffing your box with newspaper or tissue paper, use can use the comic section of the paper, which is always fun; I have also used the front page of our newspaper for when our son was overseas so he could read the local news. Or, for a fun twist, use red and white mints to fill in the gaps!

Wrapping a book can be so boring, because everyone knows what's in there. But change up the wrapping and everyone will be exclaiming over the cute outside and then they will be ready to see what's inside. Old song sheet music is a great wrapping paper. You can get music songbooks cheaply at thrift stores or swap and yard sales. You can even match the words in the song to the present or person.
Try wrapping a book in a thrift find..a cute shirt and tie! Perfect for the hard-to-buy-for male, by the time they unwrap the present, they have three...a book, a shirt and a cute tie! Or make it feminine with the addition of a brooch instead of a tie.
A bottle of wine is the go-to hostess gift and always appreciated. Make it extra-special by putting it in something. Many stores sell decorated cardboard tubes specifically for wine; They also have cute tuxedo 'hangers' that hang around the neck; use a gold glass writing pen to write a personalized message on the bottle.

For those of you with time and sewing talent, cut up old jean legs and sew the bottom in a straight seam. Remove the pocket from the jeans and sew it to the front. Roll down the top, slip wine bottle inside and tie with pretty bow. Slip bottle opener in front pocket.
Use a snuggly blanket or new towels to wrap presents. Tuck baked goods inside a holiday hotpad or glove. Bake some small loaves of fruit bread and give on a pretty china plate (have fun at the thrift store picking them out for pennies).

These are just a few ideas to get your creative mind energized!
DOG CONFESSIONS
I stole a bag of powdered sugar off the kitchen counter and ate as much as I could. Spent the next 30 minutes running circles in the living room from the sugar high

In the 60's but still a wee bit nippy with those winds creeping in. The sun shone all day and provided a welcome relief to an otherwise gloomy day.
