"Time's glory is to calm contending kings,
To unmask falsehood and bring truth to light,
To stamp the seal of time in aged things,
To wake the morn and sentinel the night,
To wrong the wronger till he render right,
To ruinate proud buildings with thy hours,
And smear with dust their glittering golden towers;
To fill with worm-holes stately monuments,
To feed oblivion with decay of things,
To blot old books and alter their contents,
To pluck the quills from ancient ravens' wings,
To dry the old oak's sap and cherish springs,
To spoil antiquities of hammer'd steel,
And turn the giddy round of Fortune's wheel;
To show the beldam daughters of her daughter,
To make the child a man, the man a child,
To slay the tiger that doth live by slaughter,
To tame the unicorn and lion wild,
To mock the subtle in themselves beguiled,
To cheer the ploughman with increaseful crops,
And waste huge stones with little water drops."
WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE, The Rape of Lucrece

Got a tiny Walgreens in my pocket. Don't tell! @trumpetcake |
There are a new kind of fashion trend with shoes? They are called "Reverse High Heels"..what some people will not endure for fashion! How do you walk in them? The video I watched reminded me of a lumbering frog. The name of these shoes are "Scary Beautiful"...we agree.
GARDEN UPDATE
Pretty pleasant watering these days as the humidity has flown and the temps are staying around 90F.
You can definitely feel a change...not the crisp bite of Fall just yet but the hot, hot weather is hopefully mostly behind us. Fall is only a few days away!

GARDEN GIGGLE
A mother skunk was always in a panic because she couldn't keep track of her two tiny ones. One was named Out and the other In. When Out was in, In was out. One day she saw Out but couldn't find In. She told Out to go out and bring In in. In about twenty seconds, Out brought In in. Surprised, the mother skunk asked, "How did you find him so fast?" The tiny skunk answered, "It was easy. In stinct!"

WHAT IN THE WORLD?
On today in American history, people in gardens everywhere were talking about:
1796 Washington's Farewell Address is published
1827 Jim Bowie stabs a Louisiana banker with his famous knife
1881 President James Garfield dies
1893 New Zealand is the first to allow women to vote
1957 Nevada becomes the first site for a nuclear underground explosion
1985 A powerful 8.1 earthquake strikes Mexico City and leaves 10,000 people dead, 30,000 injured and thousands more homeless.
1995 The Washington Post publishes the Unabomber manifesto
1988 Just one day after sustaining a head injury in a frightening accident, American diver Greg Louganis wins gold in the springboard competition at the Summer Olympics, in Seoul, South Korea. It was his second consecutive Olympic gold in the event.
2002 George Bush asked Congress to give him the authority to use any means necessary to fight Saddam Hussein
2012 Mitt Romney makes off-camera remarks that are picked up by Press
