Lots cooler today which made for quicker watering. Cleaned up all the dead rose leaves so they wouldn't infect the new shoots and use systemic applications on all the roses to fight borers and black spot.
Stumbled upon this fascinating topic and had to share it with you. We all know that nature is pretty amazing. So why not learn from it?
Biomimicry (from bios, meaning life and mimesis, meaning to imitate) is a new science to study nature's best ideas, then imitate these designs and processes to solve human problems.
The main concept is that nature, naturally imaginative by necessity, has already solved many of the problems Earth is faced with. Animals, plants and microbes are the consummate engineers. They know what works, what is appropriate and what lasts here on this planet. This is the real news of biomimicry-After 3.8 billion years of research and development, failures are fossils and what surrounds us is the secret to survival.

Like some butterflies imitating the monarch butterfly, we humans need to imitate the best adapted organisms in our area. Scientists are learning how to harness energy like a leaf does, grow food like a prairie, build ceramics like an abalone shell, self-medicate like a chimp. create color like a peacock and run a business like a hickory forest.
The path to our best future is the conscious emulation of nature's genius. We will do best in the future if our world functions like the natural world and the more likely humans can endure.
Biomimicry is a new way of viewing and valuing nature. It introduces a new future based on not what we can extract from the natural world, but we can learn from it!
