Acorn Kisses

" Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,

With conquering limbs astride from land to land;

Here at our sea-washed, sunset hates shall stand

A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame

Is the imprisoned lighting, and her name

Mother of Exiles. From her beacon hand

Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command

The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.

"Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she

With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,

Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,

The wretched refuse of your teeming shore,

Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,

I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

GARDEN UPDATE
Weather was definitely milder today so I took a chance and didn't water until the afternoon. It is still muggy but getting better and the heat isn't as intense.

Losing almost all my annuals now, sorry to see them go. Some are hanging in there, but it's a sure sign that summer is on its way out and Fall is almost here!

GARDEN GOODIES~SHARE OUR GARDEN RECIPE #0080 ACORN KISSES
These are the CUTEST little decorations or small treats for a Fall pot luck. Soooo easy to make as well!

You Will Need:
a pastry bag or ziplock bag
icing
Hershey's Kisses
mini vanilla wafer cookies or NutterButter bites
Reese's peanut butter chips or butterscotch chips

Put your icing in pastry bag or ziplock bag with small corner cut off. Remove wrappers from kisses.

Place mini wafers on cookie sheet with flat side pointed up. Squeeze small amount of icing onto bottom of kiss and immediately press onto cookie. Let icing set. Set icing bag aside for later.

Once the kiss is attached to the cookie and the icing has set, place a small dot of icing on top of cookie and attach the peanut butter or butterscotch chip to finish acorn.
