GARDEN UPDATE
Nice, warm and sunny but, whoo-boy! windy! Today I planted mums, ivy, snapdragons, pansies, tarragon and sage. I planted them in brightly colored containers and lined the walkway up to gazebo with them. Sure love those bright smiley faces.
BANANAFANAFOFANA
Is your rose bush struggling? Ya gotta BANANAFANAFOFANA-it.
Here's the recipe: Take one scoop of coffee grounds (Starbucks gives them away for free) and mash it together with seven chopped up bananas, peels and all, in any stage of ripeness.
Dig a hole 8-9 inches deep just outside where you imagine the roots to be. Take a shovel of BANANAFANAFOFANA, plop it into the ground and cover it up.
Remember our learning about those wonderful minerals that all plants crave? This will give your rose high-release potassium, phosphorus, magnesium and copper that it will immediately respond to. It composts under the ground, releasing nitrogen throughout the year. And, the good thing is, you covered it over so no critters, because you have taken away the scent.
