DOG CONFESSIONS

GARDEN UPDATE
Getting chilly in the mornings but heating back up by 10 or so. Supposedly, there is a storm coming with rain, so trying to get everything ready for that. Cleaned out the fireplace and organized the kindling/firestarter box and wood box. Now we are ready for the coziness with our first fire of the season.

COOL COP CARS

GARDEN GIGGLE

Two rednecks, Bubba and Earl, were driving down the road drinking a couple of bottles of Bud.
The passenger, Bubba, said "Lookey thar' up ahead, Earl, it's a police roadblock!! We're gonna get busted fer drinkin' these here beers!!"
"Don't worry, Bubba," Earl said. "We'll just pull over and finish drinkin' these beers then peel off the label and stick it on our foreheads, and throw the bottles under the seat."
"What fer?", asked Bubba.
"Just let me do the talkin', OK?," said Earl.
Well, they finished their beers, threw the empties out of sight & put label on each of their foreheads.
When they reached the roadblock, the sheriff said, "You boys been drinkin'?"
"No, sir," said Earl while pointing at the labels. "We're on the patch."

GARDEN GOODIES~SHARE OUR GARDEN RECIPE #0097 ANGEL FOOD CAKE

Happy National Angel Food Cake Day! Angel Food Cake or Angel cake, is a type of sponge cake originally from North America that first became popular in the U.S. in the late 19th century. It is named because of its airy lightness that was said to be the "food of the angels".
Editor's Note: Angel food cake should be cut with a serrated knife, as a straight-edged blade tends to compress the cake rather than slice it. Forks, electric serrated knives, special tined cutters or a strong thread should be used instead.

You Will Need:
(1  3/4) cups sugar
(1/4) teaspoon salt
(1) cup cake flour, sifted
(12) egg whites (the closer to room temperature the better)
(1/3) cup warm water
(1) teaspoon orange extract, or extract of your choice
(1 1/2) teaspoons cream of tartar

Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

In a food processor spin sugar about 2 minutes until it is superfine. Sift half of the sugar with the salt the cake flour, setting the remaining sugar aside.

In a large bowl, use a balloon whisk to thoroughly combine egg whites, water, orange extract, and cream of tartar. After 2 minutes, switch to a hand mixer. Slowly sift the reserved sugar, beating continuously at medium speed. Once you have achieved medium peaks, sift enough of the flour mixture in to dust the top of the foam. Using a spatula fold in gently. Continue until all of the flour mixture is incorporated.

Carefully spoon mixture into an ungreased tube pan. Bake for 35 minutes before checking for doneness with a wooden skewer. (When inserted halfway between the inner and outer wall, the skewer should come out dry).

Cool upside down on cooling rack for at least an hour before removing from pan.
