About the Author:
Robert Louis Stevenson was born in 1850 as the single son of middle-class parents. Throughout his life, he was plagued with health problems that confined him to bed. He therefore lived a life of great imagination. In his adulthood, he did manage to go to university and work but later fell ill again. He was an avid author, with many titles to his credit, including one of his most famous, 'The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde' . He died of a cerebral hemorrhage at age 44.
Editor's Note: My mother used to recite this to us when she pushed us on the swing. To this day, it reminds me of her.
How would like to go up in a swing
Up in the air so blue?
Oh, I do think it's the pleasantest thing
Ever a child can do!
Up in the air and over the wall
Till I can see so wide
River and trees and cattle and all
Over the countryside
Till I look down on the garden green
Down on the roof so brown
Up in the air I go flying again
Up in the air and down!

DID YOU KNOW...?
For those of you who had problems with pets being afraid of loud fireworks, there is a product called Pet's Ease. It is a non-narcotic, all natural cookie dogs can eat that relaxes them thru the stress at home ( you should never take an animal to a fireworks show). Some dogs love them, others don't, so if you have a picky eater, put on a little love (PEANUT BUTTER). They are a combination of natural ingredients like chamomile and tryptophan. Works remarkable well. I believe you can get them at PetsMart.

THE BEST THING SINCE SLICED BREAD
The other night the hubby came home with this amazing product! Best thing since sliced bread!
It's called EGGIES. Really ingenious, they are little spaceships that you boil as they bob happily around, cooking your egg for you without the shell! Never peel an egg again!! You can even season the egg right before it cooks! Or cook just the egg whites for a healthier egg.
Sooooo easy to do, you crack the egg into the spaceship and boil. They were so cute as they bobbed around like little duckies in the boiling water. I was so impressed when the egg came out perfectly. You can even use the bottom container as an egg cup and eat it straight from there! It would also be great for the perfect poached egg. it all depends on the timing of the cooking. AND they are top rack dishwasher safe!
Hubby got them from Big Lots but they are a "As Seen On TV" brand. We are going back to get a few more sets (they come with 6 AND a bonus egg separator) so I can make devilled eggs in bigger quantities. Just had to share our amazing find!

On today in American history, people in gardens everywhere were talking about:

1942 Anne Frank and her family go into hiding in Amsterdam
1944 In Hartford, Connecticut the Ringling Bros circus has a huge fire which kills 167 (two thirds were children) and injures 682.
1957 Althea Gibson is the first African American to win Wimbledon; John Lennon meets Paul McCartney for the first time

Recent numbers show that 63% of US households own a pet - that's 71.1 million homes and families with dogs, cats, iguanas, parakeets, fish, ferrets, potbellied pigs, etc, etc., Taking care of a pet is tougher than taking care of an infant, since our pets can't speak. Hence, making sure your pet is safe and happy when you leave it alone at home should be a priority for all pet owners. One of the simplest ways of watching over a pet remotely is by using some sort of webcam software like GotoCamera that is easily available online these days. Thanks to technology and some very smart people who are working on making things easier for us, you can now use your basic webcam to monitor your pets while you're away from them.
Liked the patriotic kitties!:-)
